The Artist Statement
Everything in existence is bound together by relationships. Random aspects relating to one another can break down and cause discord or unite to create new life. My work, on some level or another, conveys those relationships. When painting in the abstract, I show relationships between different colors, as well as textures. I like to explore the motion, depth and spontaneity of those relationships.
Woven Paintings
My current focus is on creating woven paintings. The woven paintings are a reflection of what we as people in relationships are willing to sacrifice of ourselves for the structural stability of those relationships. The process involves painting figures and then cutting the canvases and weaving them together.
