The Artist Statement

Art is inherently a reflection of the human condition. In today’s world, that condition can be overwhelmingly busy and chaotic. In my current work, my personal intention is to make an image that at the very least captures the audience’s attention. To that end, I strive for an image that is frenetic and exciting but at the same time aesthetically pleasing. I incorporate elements from all aspects of my life’s experiences; drawing, painting, digital graphics, serigraphy and digital ink jet printmaking. I add on layers and fracture images, because I want the audience to peel away and see through various visual relationships. These visual relationships are representations of the hectic and unstable nature of daily life. I blend media, and the mix up figurative representation with abstraction, in an attempt to challenge the viewer to search for their own humanity among the clamor of everyday existence. My goal for the viewer is to bring a sense of balance and harmony to the disorder of being.
